Training

Vietnam Welding Center concentrates on major educating in Welding aspect and Fabrication.
Each student must experience real lessons and practice according to following process:

1.    Welding Basics:

OBJECTIVES:

•    Understand weld safety.
•    Provide basic welding theory.
•    Understand set up of welding equipment.
•    Basic operation of MIG, TIG, and Stick Equipment.
•    Welding position.

Each student must outfit themselves in work shoes, jeans or work pants and a cotton shirt.

2.    Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW)

To advance the student’s skills in the Shielded Metal Arc (Stick) process, Emphasis will be placed on the student’s ability to prepare material and perform welding of fillet and groove welds in carbon steel using E6010 and E7018 electrodes in all positions. Practice is geared towards Structural Welding Code vertical and overhead tests.

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion, the student should be able to:

•    Perform Safety inspection of equipment and accessories
•    Set-up and prepare material for welding
•    Adjust machine to desired polarity and amperage settingMake fillet welds in all positions on carbon steel material
•    Make groove welds in all position carbon steel material
•    Perform AWS D1.1, Structural Welding Code-Steel welder certification test coupons in 3G & 4G positions on 3/8" plate

3.    GMAW

The student should be able to:

•    Perform Safety inspection of equipment and accessories
•    Set-up and prepare material for welding
•    Adjust machine to correct polarity, wire speed and voltage
•    Make fillet welds in all positions on carbon steel material
•    Make fillet welds in all positions on carbon steel material
•    Perform GMAW AWS D1.3 vertical sheet metal test
•    Perform FCAW AWS D1.1, Structural Welding Code-Steel welder certification test coupons in 3G & 4G positions on 3/8" plate

4.    GTAW

•    Perform Safety inspection of equipment and accessories.
•    Set up for GTAW operation on carbon steel, aluminum and stainless steel.
•    Adjust machine to correct polarity and amperage.
•    Make horizontal fillet welds on carbon steel.
•    Make flat & vertical groove welds on carbon steel.
•    Make horizontal and vertical fillet welds on stainless steel.
•    Make flat & vertical groove welds on stainless steel.
•    Make horizontal and vertical fillet welds on aluminum.
•    Make flat & vertical groove welds on aluminum.
•    Perform AWS D9.1 welder certification plates in all three materials in the vertical position.

5.    SAW

SAW heats metals using an electric arc between a bare electrode and the base material, beneath a blanket of flux material. This process uses a continuous, solid wire electrode shielded by the flux. The flux acts to stabilize the arc during welding, shielding the molten pool from the atmosphere. It also covers and protects the weld during cooling and can affect weld composition and its properties.

SAW is most commonly automated, but semi-automated systems are also available. The current can be either AC or DC and for automated systems, the electrodes can be a single wire or multiple solid or tubular wires, or strips. Welding can only be done in a flat or horizontal position due to the use of granular flux and the fluidity of the molten weld pool. High deposition rates can be achieved and very thick and thin materials can be welded with this process.
